The Procedure and Academic Requirements

Selection Criteria / Prerequisites

The minimum qualification for enrollment is Matriculation with Science or equivalent.
Preference will be given to students having intermediate or higher qualification with science. These students will be exempted from any of the Pre-medical courses of study.
provided that they will appear in two additional Subjects i.e.

  1. Physics + Chemistry
  2. Biology
Application for admission should be submitted on the prescribed forms, available from the Nawabshah Homoeopathic Medical College or download from web. Side of the college .
The application should also be accompanied with the following documents (duly attested):
  1. Photographs Passport size 6 Nos
  2. Matriculation (SSC Part II Science) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificates: 2 set
  3. Intermediate (HSC Part II Science) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificates: 2 set
  4. Copy of any other academic qualification 2 set
  5. Computerized National ID Card (if available)/otherwise parents Computerized National ID Card 2 set
  6. The applicants are also required to fill in the Enrolment form of the National Council for Homoeopathy, Government of Pakistan.

NOTE: All original documents and certificates shall be produced before the admission committee.

Attendance

In order to be eligible for appearing in the Final Examination, students are required to attend atleast 70% of lectures and practical in each academic year. Those who do not meet this requirement may be asked to repeat the academic year.

All the candidates are required to obtain attendance certificate from their respective teachers and office. Shortage in attendance upto 5% may be condoned by the Principal for bonafied reasons. Another 10% of shortage may be condoned by the college in special cases, but no student whose attendance falls below the limit prescribed by the National Council for Homoeopathy, Government of Pakistan shall be allowed to appear in the examination.

NOTE: Attendance will be count from the date a student joins the college till last working day of the session.
College Session

The college session usually starts from September each year. The exact timings and date of admission will be notified through press and on the college notice boards, as per directive of the National Council for Homoeopathy (NCH), Government of Pakistan.

Vacations and Holidays

Apart from the gazetted holidays, the Colleges shall observe the holidays which are announced from time to time by the National Council for Homoeopathy. The Annual vacations will be declared by the college Managements as per announcements of the Council.

Assessment & Examinations

There are a number of means of assessment. This includes portfolios, quiz tests, class tests, class presentations, and supervised casework. Moreover, internal examinations are held every year at the mid of academic session so that students do not feel that they are ill-prepared for the annual examinations of National Council For Homeopathy (NCH). There are no examinations in the House Job session although there is a final assessment to ensure that you are safe to practice.

All students are required to appear in these tests and internal / home examination which are conducted by the college authorities. Failure to appear in these examinations will bar the students from appearing in the NCH Annual Examination. The marks for these tests and internal examinations do not count towards a final grade but may help the student to highlight areas that require further attention. Students may choose to approach a tutor for extra-curricular tutorial support. The Annual Examination are conducted by the National Council For Homeopathy, Government of Pakistan and are usually held in the month of May/June each year. However, the exact dates shall be announced by the National Council for Homoeopathy.

Practical Training

The Hospital/Clinics based in the college premises provides practical training to the students of final year in case taking, diagnosis and prescription.

Laboratory

The college provides facilities for practical in Anatomy, Homeopathic Pharmacy, Physiology and Pathology. It is essential for all students to undergo practical training so that they may be allowed to appear in the NCH Annual Examination.

Library

The college maintains a Library which functions during the college hours. The College Library has professional books / Reference Books and journals to provide the required depth of knowledge in each subject.

The Components of the Course

It consists of the study of Homoeopathic Philosophy and Materia Medica, Case Taking, repertorisation and management. In the early part of education students will look at the process and different approaches between homoeopathic and conventional case-work and intervention.

At the same time the depth of knowledge and understanding increases and more complex aspects of the work of the homoeopath are studied. Students also consider other methods of prescribing and the use of computers in homoeopathy,as well.

Diploma & Degree Awards

On passing the final Examination and clinical experience, the Diploma in Homoeopathic Medical System (DHMS) is awarded to the successful students by the NCH, under the Ministry of National Health Services , Regulations & Coordination , Government of Pakistan, recognizing their completion of all components of the course and their ability to practice safely and competently. They are then registered as Homoeopathic Medical practitioners, by the Council and thus obtain a professional license, which gives them the right to practice Homoeopathy as (R.H.M.P ) Registered Homoeopathic Medical Practitioner any where in the country.

Moreover, the degree of BHMS (Homoeopathy) is awarded by the respective university, through which the college is affiliated. Diploma and degree holders may also use the letters H/Dr (Homoeopathic Doctor). Should anyone wish to, he/she may also apply to a number of awarding bodies for memberships and registration.

Tuition & Fees

Students normally register for a complete 4 years diploma or 5 years degree program have a choice of payment options. Students transferring from other colleges, or with previous homoeopathic study, may need to complete the remaining course in order to complete the program requirements, or may wish to study only certain areas.

Tuition for the complete four year diploma program ranges from Pak. Rs. 16,000/- to 25,000/-. Admission fees are estimated at Pak. Rs. 500/- per year. From time to time the College offers special lectures, seminars, study tours and visits. The cost for these programs averages Rs. 500/- to 1000/- day. While not a requirement for the completion of the diploma / degree program, these lectures, seminars, study tours and visits may greatly intensify the learning process.
